I don't know what is wrong with me lately, but I just feel really blah...I have so much I need to get done, but I just have had no inspiration. One of the big things on my to do list is to get back to blogging, but though I enjoy reading other blogs, lately I just have not felt like doing my own. I even sent out our blog address on our Christmas cards this year thinking that would get me inspired...So I am writing this post to confess to you my lack of motivation (even though I doubt anyone even reads the Webpages anymore).

This lack of motivation is holding me back in other ways too. Before the holidays I was really doing well and getting a lot done each day. Now I am doing good to keep the house picked up and laundry done. Of course it may have something to do with the little helper I have running around pulling things out as quick as I can put them away, but I wouldn't have it any other way! I have some big organizing projects I need to tackle and I have to start scrapbooking soon (I am embarassed to say I have not created one page for my precious baby girl who is already going to be 14 months old next week...What kind of mama am I?!) I am really thinking I may just jump on the photobook bandwagon rather than stress about doing a traditional scrapbook for her first year. At least then I will have the very best pictures of her first year organized in a way that we can enjoy. Another thing I need to do is start working out! I haven't even been walking very much the last couple of months and my eating is out of control. I feel better now that I have at least owned up to my lack of motivation...Accountability always helps! Now I just need to get in gear and do something about it!

We have been busy this month and have enjoyed seeing most of our family on both sides. Because we have been on the road so much, I feel like I am having a hard time getting things caught up and on the days when we are home, I just want to hole up inside with Miss Q. She is growing up so quickly and I am loving getting to be home with her. I really hope my inspiration will hit soon so I can share some new pics and stories of all that she is up to these days. Be prepared that when the inspiration does come there will be several posts back to back. I hope to see you back here soon...

Playing Catch Up!

My goal over the next few days is to get our blog caught up and try to stay current moving forward...I thought when I quit my job in August to stay home I would have so much time...Not so! It has taken me some time to get into a routine and for about a month and a half I was without a computer. Also, I have started back to work one day a week...I am working for a friend who has a medical waste disposal business. I am helping her get new accounts and I absolutely love what I am doing! People are excited to find out about our company and I love selling a service. It is a really good balance for me.

Our weeks have finally started to fall into place and I am really liking the routine we have established. On Mondays, I clean, water plants, and wash sheets. On Tuesdays, I finish anything left from Monday and run some errands. In the afternoon we have our weekly playgroup which is so fun. More on that in future posts...I work on Wednesdays and Q stays with her old nanny, Elise. I think they both really enjoy it and I enjoy getting to call on customers. On Thursdays, Q has Mother's Day Out and I run my errands. Friday is kind of our free day to do whatever needs doing. Our days are filled with walks, stories, cuddling, playing, housework, cooking, and visiting with friends. I love the freedom we have and thoroughly enjoy being home with my sweet girl. She is growing and changing so much every day and I love that I don't have to miss a thing. She has 5 teeth now and she is really working on talking, but all she can really say right now is "hi" and she says it to everyone she sees! She is pulling up, crawling, and into everything! That is just a brief update about what we have been up to the past couple of months...Thanks for being patient with me and I promise many photo updates coming in the days ahead!

My New Job!

So if you are a friend of mine on Facebook, you already know the news...I have a new job and this is my new boss!

After 8 years as a pharmaceutical rep, and 11 years in the professional world, I have decided to become a stay at home mom for a while. I have been feeling the need for a change for several years now, but my job was so good, I kept thinking it was not time. I kept praying that God would show me what I was really supposed to be doing. The first part of July, after several talks with dear, wise family and friends, years of praying, and the support of my sweet husband, it became abundantly clear what I was supposed to do. So at my mid year review at the end of July I gave my two weeks notice. My manager could not have been more supportive and I feel so blessed that I had the opportunity to work for such a good man. I cried, but as I left the hotel in Stephenville that day, I felt as though a weight had been lifted off of my shoulders. On August 10th, he came and checked me out. He took my computer and all of the boxes of promotional materials. I had already transferred my samples a couple of weeks before.

It is amazing how much space we have in the garage now that all of this stuff is gone!

One last picture of my company car.
Doug was a great boss and a dear friend. The best part of my job was the people I got to know. When Doug left and the fleet people drove away with my car, I cried like a baby for about 30 minutes, which I think really scared Sutton, but I think I just needed to grieve for a bit. I felt scared and a bit like a piece of me was gone. I had worked for so long that seemed to be who I was, but now I see that was just what I did.

I have been blessed to have a company car for our entire marriage so we had to find me something to drive. That evening we drove to Coleman and we found a car that I actually love more than any of my new company cars.
It is older, but I think it is really cute, and I love that I can haul so much stuff in the back!

I love being here with Quincy and watching her grow and change. I love the slower pace of my life and feeling like I can breathe for the first time in years. It is so nice not to have to get on the road every day- I think after driving so much for so many years, I had just gotten burned out. I love having time to bake and cook meals for Sutton. I love that Q and I are able to go with Sutton to some of his work meetings. For a long time people joked with Sutton that we were just a figment of his imagination since we were never able to be there with him. I don't have a cleaning lady anymore, but that is okay, because I am loving being the one to clean my own home. Life is really good...I don't know when I have ever felt so happy. I almost feel guilty because I am enjoying my new job so much...Probably because someone once told me that work is not spelled f-u-n. It is amazing the peace you can find when you seek and follow God's will. My prayer is that I will be able to pursue a part time job from here that will allow me this freedom, but also keep me connected professionally. In the mean time, I am just thoroughly enjoying this new chapter in my life!

Thanks to all of my sweet blog friends (you girls know who you are) for encouraging me. After a couple of weeks being at home full time, I am realizing I need to get on some type of schedule so I can be more productive. Q has a great schedule, but I need to do a better job of being more efficient during her nap times. I know I will definitely do Meal Plan Mondays and I am thinking Friday will be my cleaning day. I even found the perfect dayplanner for my new job- it is called the Mom Agenda and I am hoping it helps me to be more productive and organized. If you have any tips or suggestions, please share them in a comment. I would really appreciate it!

Father's Day Weekend Tradition

We spend every Father's Day weekend with Sutton's dad and his brothers and sister. The tradition dates back at least 12-13 years, and I have been blessed to be a part of it for at least 8 (missing only one year when it was a guys only trip.) In the old days before babies, we traveled to Lake Amistad and would visit Acuna on Friday night and then spent Saturday relaxing on a pontoon boat. I can't tell you how much fun those trips were, and I have some wonderful memories from those days, but I am very thankful that our tradition is now a weekend in Horseshoe Bay. This year was awesome because we rented a house at Escondido and enjoyed time at the pool and homecooked meals at the house. It was relaxing and so easy with all of the little ones. We definitely got to know each other better as a family and I know this year will always hold a special place in our hearts. The best part was that Michael brought his sweet girlfriend, Erica, to join us. She is an amazing woman and I am so thankful that God has blessed Michael with such a sweet person- She is truly an answered prayer. Here are a few pics from the weekend...

Chels, Sutton, Russ, and their daughters
Q with her daddy on Father's Day- Sutton is such a great daddy! We are so blessed to have him in our lives.
Michael and Erica

This was also Q's first time in the pool and she absolutely loved the water! She was kicking almost immediately. She is also a big fan of bathtime and has been since the beginning. I guess I should have known she would be a waterbaby because the only time I really felt really good when I was pregnant is when I was taking a bath or swimming.

The Chandler's Baby Shower

We co-hosted a couples baby shower the first week of June for our dear friends, the Chandlers. We kept the theme simple and elegant with soft pinks and creams and served heavy appetizers and cocktails so the men would enjoy it too. It was such a fun night to celebrate a a special couple. Here are a few pictures...

The table- We held the shower at the Whites beautiful new home which is perfect for parties.
Dear friends
Beautiful mommies, Lori and Ashley- Lori had her baby girl, Georgia Grace, in July, and Ashley's baby girl, Madelyn Claire, should be here any minute!

June 2010

June 2010 was a fun, busy month. This will be a quick summary and then I plan to do individual posts for a few things.

Q at 6 months old- She is such a sweet, happy girl!

She loves people and will pretty much smile at everyone and everything.

All dressed up for our 6 month appointment. She weighed 16 pounds 11.5 ounces and measured 26.5 inches long.

She also got her 6 month shots which was not fun! Of course Mama had to take a picture...

Q loves to eat! Here she is eating carrots I think. Favorite foods this month were sweet potatos, squash, peas, prunes, and bananas. Unfortunately, bananas seem to irritate her skin so we have had to eliminate them.

One evening I got the bright idea to feed her in the Bumbo without the tray. All is well here...

But, this is the mess after...It is much easier to just feed her in her in the high chair.

We had some fun events in June including my dear friend, Elizabeth's wedding shower.

A baby shower for Lori and Jeff

A visit from our dear friends, Cody and Stephanie Wilson and their sweet baby, Zach. Quincy loved getting to meet Zach and as you can see, has already staked her claim on this little cutie.

Cody and I used to drink beer together in college...I cannot believe we are old enough and responsible enough to be parents! My how times have changed (but in such a good way)!

We enjoyed a fun trip to Horseshoe Bay for our annual Father's Day weekend tradition with Sutton's dad. I love this picture of Q with her Papa Paul.

Quincy enjoyed her first pool time that same weekend and she loved the water!

Finally, the last weekend in June, Quincy got baptized! I have tons of pics from her special day that I will share in a separate post. This month Quincy started sitting up on her own and was learning to get up on all fours. She loved to roll and play and has perfected a fake cough and a fake cry. She cut her 2 bottom teeth this month. She is reaching for everything and is so aware. She is a true joy and blessing to our lives!

May 2010

May flew by with work and travel. This month Q enjoyed her first crawfish boil, began rolling from back to tummy, and ate her first cereal. I had to leave her overnight for the first time in mid May for a company meeting. She and Sutton did great...I think it was hardest on me! Here are some highlights from the month-

Q at 5 months

We drove to Houston for our annual crawfish weekend the first of May. It was a long trip, but she did really good for the most part. I know in a couple of years she will be right in there with us peeling and eating the crawfish. We love this time we spend with the Garretts each year and it was even better this time because Q got to be a part of it all!

I celebrated my 33rd birthday on May 5th. Sutton surprised me with beautiful flowers even though he had to be out of town that day. Q surprised me by rolling from back to tummy for the first time. Unfortunately I missed it because I was at work, but I got to see her do it again when I got home and now she rolls all over the place. Q and I went home to see my parents later in the week and we enjoyed shopping with my mom on Friday.

We enjoyed drinks and dinner with our friends to celebrate my birthday that same weekend.

Q with our dear friend Wynell who helped watch Q while her normal sitter was in class on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Wynell was a true blessing to us and she helped ease my transition back to work.

A cute pic I took of Q to put on our Mother's Day cards.

Papa came through town on Mother's Day and treated us to lunch at the Grill. We loved getting to catch up with him!

Q and I went to Aggie Happy Hour and I enjoyed getting to catch up with sweet Nancy Lane. Nancy was in the girls Bible study group that we had at my house in 2006. Those girls blessed my life more than they will ever know and I love that we all still stay in touch (thank goodness for Facebook!). This was Q's first time to meet Nancy. I am so proud of Nancy- She will graduate from Texas A&M in December and she is an amazing young woman!

I love that we share this bond- I am class of 1999 and Nancy is class of 2010!

Q and I went to Yoakum for my niece's
confirm-ation. I cannot believe Emily June is already 14- I am so proud of her for confirming her faith in Jesus Christ. She is growing up to be a beautiful lady- inside and out!

Here is a picture of my family that was able to make it in for the weekend. Judith and her boys came through SA to pick us up since both of our husbands were busy farming. It was so much fun traveling together!

A cute one of John Thomas and Q. He and Laurel were a big help in entertaining Q...I can't believe they just celebrated their 10th birthday- It feels like just yesterday they were this size!

On May 25th we welcomed a new neighbor, Miss Josie Kristine Chesser. I know she and Q are going to be the best of friends and I can already see them playing under the shade tree between our houses. We have been so blessed to have this family next door to us.

Q started rice cereal the week before her 6 month birthday and she did great! I think I am glad I waited so long because the transition was very smooth and she was truly ready. She is still nursing twice a day and takes a bottle twice a day when I am at work.

We enjoyed having my sister, Ingrid, and niece, Laurel, come for a quick visit the last week of May. Laurel helped Sutton watch Quincy while Ingrid and I went to see Sex and the City 2 on opening night. We had so much fun I forgot to take pictures!

We went to cousin Garrett's high school graduation in Eldorado at the end of the month and enjoyed seeing the Lux side of the family.

Just a few of the Lux cousins

Q with her cousin, Corrie
While we were in Eldo, we got to check the crops with Sutton. Daddy has been busy and we enjoyed getting to see all of his hard work. This was Q's first time to check crops with Sutton and I know this will be something they love to do together in the future.

She was so amazed by the heads on the wheat. I know Sutton can't wait for her to be old enough to ride on the tractor with him.

Q is a great sleeper and typically sleeps 7-7 now. We have established a nice bedtime routine that makes putting her down much easier since she knows what to expect. I took this sweet picture of Sutton reading her Good Night Moon one evening when we were getting ready to put her down. I am trying to soak up each precious moment and I don't want to forget a thing!
